How to: front hip pocket.

On Friday I learnt how to make a front hip pocket for a trouser. Here is the step by step guide and images that I have taken while making the pocket.

1. Cut out all patterns pieces, front trouser x1, back trouser x1, pocket facing x1, pocket x1 and interfacing.

2. Iron on the interfacing on the front trouser.

3. Place the pocket facing underneath the front trouser and sew together with 1.5cm seam allowance.

4. Snip along the curve and trim in half.

5. Attach a retaining row on the pocket facing and press.

6. Take the pocket and attach to the pocket facing with 1.5cm seam allowance.

7. Bias bind the edge but first trim off 0.5cm off the seam allowance.

8. Cut out a bias grain fabric and bias bind the edge of the pocket.

9. sew the top and side close to the edge to hold the fabrics together.

10. Sew the front and Back trousers together, right sides together with 1.5cm seam allowance. Then overlock the edges.

Here is the finish sample.

EDUN clothings

Ali Hewson is one of the ethical designer that I have looked at for my college work. She is the founder of the clothing brand EDUN. EDUN is founded on a commitment to develop trade with a
Africa and to courage others to do the same. I really like the way the clothes and even though they are luxurious, they still think about how the fabric is manufactured and procedures. Here some of the clothes that I like from this brand.

Manchesterf trip

On wednesday we had a trip to Manchester to visit a museum and do some trend research. I really liked the garments and accessories that I saw in the museum. I found some interesting clothes that would help me with my inspiration. Here are the photos that I have taken from the museum and the Manchester shopping centre.
