FMP collection??..

Yesterday I had a chance to select and discuss my final collection with one of my tutor. I haven't done all of my 50 designs yet so my decision might change after I've finished all of my designs. As some of you might know my theme is about Asian culture and military.
Here is my 'chosen' collection.

Modelling on the stand and flat patterning...

As some of you may know I've finished my trousers for my pattern cutting unit a few weeks ago. To pass the unit I have to compare on what I think about different methods of constructing mu trousers (modelling on the stand and flat patterning). I have used both of these method while I was manufacturing my toile.
I modelled on the stand when I was fitting the waist onto the mannequin (image of the back trousers with pleats). I find modelling on the stand every interesting and fun because you can adapt and develop designs the way you want to easily instead of using flat patterning like you would always do when manufacturing a garment.

First day of my London treck....

This week it has been fun, exciting and exhausting week for me because I was in London visiting museums, exhibitions, fabric shops and looking at market levels for my final major project.

On the day that I arrived in London the first thing that I visited was the V&A. It was interesting because there were things that relates to my theme (Military and Asian culture) and others that I think could relate to my FMP.

The other place that I got to visit was Sloane Street were designer shops are located to. It was kind of a weird because the shops were very expensive looking and I feel like I shouldn't be there. I got to do some market research while I was there though so that was good.

Thank for reading ^_^

Thanks to Mike Sutton who photographed my trouser and thanks to Bobbie who modeled for me. ^_^

Colour palette....

At this stage of my research I have decided on what colour I should use for throughout my sketchbook. I came across this Hanbok fashion show from my summer homework and I thought that it would work very well with my theme.
I have chosen bright and muted colours for my collection based on this fashion show. I like the way each colour compliment each other.

Designers...

I have thought about designers that would probably influence and inspire me throughout my research. The designers that I have chosen relates to my concept/theme which are military and Asian culture. I like the collections of Guo Pei, André Kim, Qi Gang, Viktor & Rolf, Alexander McQueen and Tsau Meiyue because of their strong sharp silhouette, colour palette and diverse shapes used in their garments.
You probably haven't heard some of these designers but I absolutely love their collections I may not know much about all of their collections but I think some might relate to my theme.

Here are some of the collections that I have found,

Jeremy Scott Spring 2012 RTW collection

Part1
Part2

Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 RTW collection

Guo Pei Fall/Winter 2010 collection

I'll post some more update next time. Thank you for reading ^_^
