Lay plan

As most of you probably know I am currently writing about the progression of the manufacture of my dress in my toile diary, along with that I have also done a lay play for my patterns.
A lay plan is where you place your patterns on your fabric and try not to waste too much fabric because in the fashion industry if you waste materials you also waste your money. Below is an example of a good lay plan. In industry you can only have 20% waste as any more than this and your company would not be making a profit.

My lay plan

Keep in mind when you look at my lay plan that I have considered my grain lines. If you were in industry those gaps would be filled with another garment to boost profits.
